The hook grip is the best grip when it comes to taking weight off the ground. It helps a ton in the Olympic lifts making it so that you can keep you arms relaxed and fast without loosing hold of the bar. If you have never tried the hook grip it can be uncomfortable but the pay off is big in the long run when taking weight off the floor and once you have practices it a bit it becomes habit. You may even find yourself hook gripping your steering wheel or grocery cart. As you can see in the photo the hook grip also sits the bar deep in the hand and almost gives the hand a slight false grip that way instead of hanging on the fingers you are hanging on the whole system and all you have to do is stand up.
