This Saturday we are hosting a one day clinic with Mark Bell. He is bringing with him fellow coach Jesse Burdick.  It will be a day of inspiration and education.  The day will focus on the box squat and the deadlift. Two movements that may appear to be simple, but are filled with nuances and refinement.

Stretch It Out

Stretching is a word that we don't use very much.  We prefer the word mobilize.  Why does it matter? Because of the intent.  When we design the warm up for the day the aim is to prepare our bodies for the work ahead.  We hope to get your bodies organized. The difference may seem irrelevant to some, but the intention to lengthen muscles purely to lengthen them is not the same as increasing our range of motion so we can produce more force and be more efficient. We are always chasing performance, we want to make sure you have all the tools to become a more powerful person.

Be Active

Simple cues are used to make athletes get into good position.  Shrug your shoulders, spin your elbows forward, expose the armpit are all cues for getting athletes into an active shoulder position.  The cue however is not as important as the actual position.  The important thing to remember is memorize the position and how it feels, don't memorize the cue.

Affiliate Gathering

The 2012 Affiliate Gathering in Big Sky Montana was amazing.  Affiliates from all over gathered to share ideas, business stategies, and life stories.  The atmoshphere was relaxed and the location was epic.  Coach Glassman gave a short speech Satruday morning and the rest of the time was unstructured socializing.  Just as it is hard to put a value on time spent with friends, the intangables of face time with the community are what make the gathering so special.

I recently took a trip to Staples and was reminded that the summer is almost over for most teachers, parents and school aged persons. I remember when I used to measure life in winter breaks, spring breaks and summer vacations. Life was planned around time away from school, what was your big adventure this summer?

Row 2k
60 clean and jerks
Row 2k

Each team may partition the row and clean and jerks however they want, only one person may work at a time and you must complete the row before moving onto the clean and jerks and then the final row.
