With a continuously running clock, do one 115 Pound thruster the first minute, two thrusters the second minute, three thrusters the third minute... continuing as long as you are able.
Use as many sets each minute as needed.
How does it feel to be a legend?
Um, I don't know if I would proclaim myself a legend, but, uh, if you want to do that that's fine. I like that.
Since fall of '99.
I don't know if I would proclaim myself 'more motivated.' Um, but what motivates me, I'll frame it that way, is ... it's boring if your not trying hard ... Life is not interesting unless things are challenging. (Training) is boring if it's not challenging.
Um ... Well there's definitely ... more ways that I want to improve. That's what it is. I don't know, that's a really good question. I have to dig deep. Maybe it's because it's just me. I mean, that's what it is. It's just who I am. If I wasn't being who I am I wouldn't be happy. It's just who I am, it's kinda hard to explain. It's just what I do.
Uh no. Bugs the hell out of me that I can't do it ... Messes with your head if there's something you can't do.
Oh yeah. It was tough. I'm still trying to find that extra motivation that I was able to juice out of the Games. It's a little bit more of a challenge, actually, to be motivated if I don't have the ultimate venue to test my fitness like I did before.
It depends. Um, if I'm at a party, if I've been good, you know, if I've been eating healthy, feel like I deserve it, I'm gonna let it all go. To be honest, it used to be a lot more epic when I first started ... I would see how many doughnuts I could eat.
Usually in the morning.
Haven't tried Inov8, so all I know is Reebok.
Vampires of Zombies?
Um, uh, vampires. Don't know why.
Blondes or Brunettes?
Cats or Dogs?
Uh, do ... Uh, ooo. Hm. Dogs.
Daniel Tosh, 'cause that's the only guy I know.
Santa Cruz Roasting Company
Diane, Elizabeth or Fran?
Anthony Bourdain's "No Reservations."
Um, yes and no. Usually no.
I have a big interest in set design. Um, I don't know if this counts, but I went to design and build a playground for orphans in Zambia. And I'd really love to do that again.
That was in 2009 ... And I got word from the orphanage that they need another playground.
I went to a church in L.A. that has a lot of creative talent within the church ... There's dancers, there's singers, there's poets, there's entertainers, there's designers. And I was going to school for set design ... I just love the challenge of communicating a message through the visual set.
I love the chill attitude ... One thing I don't like, uh, it can kind of be an island, like island fevers. You're kind of stuck in Santa Cruz. It's so easy to be too lazy, not to go anywhere. You can easily lose track of time, that you've been in the same place, same spot on this planet, and there's other worlds to be explored.
My first impression of them, before I moved here, was they really seemed to truly care. They really seemed to care about your success. They really, um, it was very attractive to me to want to work out here because when I first met Hollis, 2009 Games, when I was competing, or 2008 Games, he was telling me about how much, he was just giving me advice. I just really picked it up, his vibe; that he would do whatever he can to help me. He just simply seemed like he really cared about your results. Not just in the gym, but outside the gym, too. That was important. Made you feel like you belonged.
