Everyone Must Deadlift

Branden and Patrick do "Diane" during the 7pm class yesterday.

Connor does "Christine" during the 5pm class.
It is important to deadlift every once in a while whether it's done within a storm, such as Diane or Christine, or as a one rep max effort. When properly executed, the deadlift can help heal back injuries, stretch out the hamstrings and of course, build strength. Deadlifting is fundamental to living both healthy and fit lives.
Workout:
7 rounds of:
7 deadlifts (men use 225 pounds, women use 180 pounds)
Run 400 meters

Love Deadlifts
Hate Running
I'd classify this WOD as a true love/hate.

Deadlifts used to be on my 'hate' list. I'm not sure why, just didn't like them. I think its the deception of the movement. Its not scary to go heavy on a deadlift, like the clean and jerk or the press. You don't have to get anything overhead and your body actually has to move very little to get it done. Yet, without a doubt, the deadlift kicks my butt.
Recently I've grown to like the deadlift and someday I may even love it. There seems to be a natural cycle in my crossfit journey. I'll hate a movement, dread it, groan when it comes up... then over time, after mentally pushing through the misery of the movement that I hate during workouts, I begin to like it, and sometimes even love it (like the wall ball). There are several movements on my 'once hated, now loved' list. I'm glad that the deadlift is one of them. On the other hand, I love and always have loved HSPUs.
I'm looking forward to Diane :)

Nice post- true info on the dead...done correctly, it is one the most primal and effective tools that you have...done incorrectly on a continual basis, it will damage you!

Well said Heather! I used to hate wall balls until I decided to use a 20 pound ball in all wall ball workouts. After suffereing through that, I now don't mind them at all. After that, Greg and I decided to just do "Fran," "Helen," and "Diane" over and over for two weeks (with rest days) because I was scared to do those WODs. My times were never that good, but it didn't make my stomach turn when they came up as a WOD. I should do that again because I'm starting to dread those WODs again!
